Terry Nichols Eligible For The Death Penalty

Almost 10 years after the most horrific terrorist attack on American soil (at the time) Terry Nichols was convicted of 161 state murder charges Wednesday for helping carry out the Oklahoma City Bombing.

Nichols Conviction makes him eligible for the death penalty. A death sentence would supersede the life in prison sentence he received in Federal court.

According to CNN.Com, the jury only deliberated a short 5 hours before convicting Nichols on 161 counts of murder.

The April 19, 1995, blast at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building killed 168 people. Timothy McVeigh was executed in June 2001, and until now was the only person convicted of murder in the bombing.

Here's to hoping that Nichols will be the second. Death by lethal injection is far to soft a punishment for Nichols. He deserves to suffer the pain of all of his victims.

Nichols and McVeigh are the worst kind of terrorists, the home kind. Both served in the US Army and it has been speculated that they plotted to bomb a federal building because of their ill will towards both the Army and the Federal government.

"These two were partners, and their business was terrorism," prosecutor Lou Keel said during opening statements.

The prosecution brought a ton of circumstantial evidence and nearly 250 witnesses over the course of the two-month trial.

I hope that Nichols gets his due, and while I think that a lethal injection is too lenient it is better than the taxpayers paying to keep this human waste alive for the remainder of his lifetime.

I agree, they ought to bring old sparky out and let him ride the bolt instead of the needle....do it at half power so it takes longer.
