Shift In Perception

As we all know John Kerry lost ground after the Democratic National Convention. Isn't that a bit purpose defeating, but good news nonetheless.

George Bush gained ground after the Republican National Convention. Good news for his supporters.

I talk politics with people from all walks of life, from the factory worker, to the farmer to service men and woman. I have had discussions about this "most important" presidential race with people of all ages from my brother of 18 to an Uncle in his 60's.

Some people believe that GW has it in the bag and others believe the election is for John Kerry to lose.

As you have already seen here at the Slaughterhouse I hope the election is GW's. I can't stand the thought of taking orders from a Commander in Chief who condemned his fellow men and woman at arms.

So I was thinking tonight...

What sort of events would seal the deal for either candidate?

First, the capture of Bin Ladin, which we hear is getting closer and closer. This needs to happen regardless and I hope it does. I am sure it would close the door on Waffles chances.

Second, gas prices. All over America people bitch that they are paying $2 a gallon for gas. Yeah, that sucks but take a look at Europe or Asia. The Japanese pay almost three times what we do for gas, and it is double what we pay in much of Europe. Another sure bet for GW, somehow force gas prices to drop dramatically.

So what you may ask would seal the deal for John Effin Kerry? I thought and thought and thought and I came up with two possibilities.

First, every member of the United States Military both Past and Present would have to mysteriously disappear from the face of the Earth. I truly believe it will be the Veterans of all wars past and present that will decide this race.

Second, the only other possibility would be a giant meteorite from outerspace striking the President.

Since both of these scenarios are highly unlikely I truly hope we see the outcome that our military and our nation need.
