Blame Ignorant Canadians Not All Of Canada
A few days ago I posted an bitching session about some boneheads in Canada titled Blame Canada. It is about some nimrods who are planning on erecting a monument to memorialize American draft dodging douche bags during the Vietnam War.
The original post raised a bit of a stink and started a chain of comments from Canadians that were a little pissed about my comments.
Now after a few days of Americans emailing the mayors office in Nelson and telling it like it is it appears that the legal leadership of Nelson, British Columbia are withdrawing any signs of support for such an ignorant idea by a bunch of ignorant people.
According to Canada's National Post the mayor of Nelson had this to say about the situation, ''I made an innocent comment, off the cuff,'' he explained. ''Yes, I am a peace activist. But I wasn't speaking as mayor when I said I liked the idea. I wasn't even talking about the sculpture, which I don't support. We don't have a lot of public art here.''
Also a city councillor had this to say about supporting this atrocity, "Definitely not, adds Ian Mason. He is preparing a ''resolution of non-support'' that will make Nelson's position on the event crystal clear.
Give me a break. So his statement was merely support for art and he all together missed what their intentions were? At least I can feel a little more comfort knowing that the men and woman of the Canadian military also oppose such a horrendous thing.
One loyal veteran had this to say at the Royal Canadian Legion hall, ''Those draft-dodging a-holes,'' snorted one legion member. ''We are in communication with our provincial command and we will be formulating a strong response to this nonsense. That's all I can say about it right now.''
Boycott Nelson, B.C. and the morons (and their businesses) who would support such an atrocity.

He is completely clueless. Something tells me that Nelson does not have much public art for a reason, not much goin' on there, in more ways than one.
Good post, Slagle. I love that you were able to shake the trees up there.
