Even if Kerry was only in Viet Nam for 4 months and bought his purple hearts, at least he showed up. He actually set foot in the country. That is way more than Bush did. Personally, I can't stand either one of them, because neither of them have any balls, but I will be voting because someone fought for my right to do just that, and I will not let that be for nought.

Fair enough Vickie. However consider this, Kerry spent four months trying to get out of his duty. George Bush has spent the last 4 years serving in the highest position in the U.S. Military and he wants to do 4 more.

Many would rather forfeit their right to vote to someone else than show up at the polls or fill out an absentee ballot. Yet they'll complain and bellyache about the choices made for them. If you don't like what you get, get off your asses and join the process. VOTE.

He was In VN Vickey...thats all that can be said though. It's a misconception that he volunteered, though. He joined the Naval RESERVE, and was unfortunate enough that he unit was called up..when he arrived, he volunteered for the swift boats, because at the time he arrived, it was (relatively) the safest duty, then The commanding Admiral got the idea of switching the boats from coastal interdiction to brown water patrol, and Kerry was in the thick of it, despite his best efforts; nevertheless, he was still there untill he managed to gain more medals in four months than most did in eighteen months...funny how that happened..seems HE wrote all the after-action reports.. then didn't meet his Reserve obligations when he was returned to the states, but helped form an anti-war group that effectively did more to help the enemy than many of the enemie's combat units; and conducted talks on at least two occasions with the enemy in Paris.

Bush served more than 4 years, flying one of the most dangerous planes ever to be included in the inventory. He VOLUNTEERED to go to VN when a new squadren was being formed, but was turned down because he didn't have enough flight time in.

So which man was more diligent; the one who went in SPITE of himself, and then worked agains't his "brothers in arms" or the one who was turned down because he didn't have the experience they were looking for, yet still met his obligations?

Yes, Kerry DID do more than Bush did..FOR the enemy.

Did it yesterday, sir. Don't want to do it again for 2 years. Voted early, not voting often. Good luck, Mr. President.
