SlagleRock's Slaughterhouse
Don't be a fool and die for your country. Let the other sonofabitch die for his.

Today's Quote!

"I do wish Kerry would explain sometime why it is OK for his faith to shape his stands on social welfare programs and the environment when he vows never to let his stands on abortion and embryonic stem cells be shaped by that same faith." --Jeff Jacoby

Or why is it bad for Bush to allow his faith to guide him, but it is OK for Waffles?

As evidenced by the Democrats there is no lack of stem cells.

Faith shouldn't guide anything in our system. Seperation of church and state. Seperation of one mans beliefs, from another.

Middle Slagle, I think your confusing freedom OF religion with freedom FROM religion.

Most of the problems we've experienced in the last twenty years is because these two were confused. Men of faith have been our greatest leaders, with one exception.

Faith leads to a set of core values that will not be stepped over, and the strength to stand up to the ever varying winds of the common public opinion to do that which is right, wether or not it may be popular at the moment.

There are enough varying faiths in the leadership to balance the scales to ensure that no theocracy ever comes to power;we all agree that that is not a desired thing in our republic, but I do believe that men of strong faith do make the most moral leaders, that on the whole, make the best decisions for the country.

THERE is NO such thing as "separation of Church and State" in our constitution, only that there would never be a STATE religion. The Founding Fathers; to a MAN, ALL stated that the moment that men of no faith lead the country; it would lead to the destruction of the country, and they have been proven to have been as wise in this respect as they have in most other thoughts they had about government.
