Lunatic Left Champions Deserters

Recently Mamamontezz pointed me to an article on SFGate.com written by Harley Sorensen.

It is a sorry little piece in which a man who shouldn't be afforded the title American tries to blame the war in Iraq on one man, President George W. Bush.

First, Mr. Sorensen you'll notice that I properly referred to the president by that, President not Mr.

You started your sorry commentary with this:

Today let us take the sad, sordid case of one George W. Bush. Our president. Love him or hate him, it was he and he alone who decided that our mighty armies should travel to Iraq and kill tens of thousands of people, most of whom were guilty of nothing more than being there.

Do you honestly believe that President Bush was the lone individual that decided we "should travel to Iraq and kill tens of thousands of people".

Are you actually that misinformed about our system of government to believe that "Mr. Bush" as you so smugly referred to him has the authority so send our youth to die?

Like egomaniacal rulers forever, dating back to the cave, Mr. Bush demonized the people he wanted to kill. They have "weapons of mass destruction," he asserted. Yeah, like we don't. Like India doesn't. Like Israel doesn't. Like Pakistan doesn't. Like China doesn't. Like Russia doesn't. Why don't we invade them? Or ourselves?

“Egomaniacal rulers forever” You are ridiculous. While I personally do not agree with everything that OUR President has done or influenced I do believe that as an American I have an obligation to support him and our armed forces. And as far as your silly, China has them, Russia has them bullshit comment, you clearly don't understand the concept of preemption. Why allow known terrorist nations to seek the bomb? We may not be able to change the fact that China and Russia have nuclear capabilities but we can prevent others from being added to that list.

It turned out the Iraqis didn't have those terrible weapons. But, the Iraqis are evil, Mr. Bush asserted. Well, at least their leader was, so, by extension, they all were. And, by gosh and by golly, they might have harbored terrorists at one time or another.

I do not recall ever hearing President Bush say that the "Iraqis are evil", in fact I don't ever recall him implying such a thing. It is ridiculous of you to think that the American people are so stupid as to believe that we need to attack and kill as many of those evil woman and children as we can.

While I would love to go on and on and continue ripping your garbage Op Ed to pieces I have better things to do with my time.

I'll leave you with this. Every one of the 5,500 people that you claim have deserted should be captured, tried as deserters in a time of war and punished as such. We took an oath to obey the laws of the constitution and obey the orders of the President. We do not have to agree with them but we have to follow them. Anyone who is not prepared to do so, needs to get the hell out of the military the honorable way at the end of their agreed upon enlistment.

Your silly remark about reaching recruiting quotas is completely unfounded. I have several friends in recruiting and they have no quotas, no numbers, in fact many have been told that we don't need people right now.

After you don your uniform and fight in the global war on terrorism you can whine, bitch and moan about the things you disagree with, until then you have no right, to belittle our President, or imply that honorable Soldiers, Sailors, Airman and Marines must be stupid because they didn't desert.

You are the prime reason that no one takes the extreme left or their ridiculous views seriously.
