Another Fallen Hero Deserves Proper Remembrance

I have transplanted the following from Something and Half of Somthing:

Letter Writing Request

Most of you have read about the "brave dissenters" who expressed their "support for our Troops" by vandalizing the home of Army SGT Rickey Jones, who was killed in action Feb. 22 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during patrol operations in Hawijah, Iraq.

These "patriots" have actually called SGT Jones' family to tell them "I’m glad your son is dead.” If that wasn't enough for SGT Jones' family to deal with, Fred Phelps and his hatemongers will probably picket the funeral.

If you haven't heard about this, run on over and read what Emperor Misha has to say.

Army SGT Rickey Jones

CJ at A Soldier's Perspective, is trying to help organize a letter writing campaign to the family of SGT Rickey Jones.

If you are as disgusted as I am and would like to write a letter to have delivered to this family, please email Lauren (MyWay716@aol.com) for more information. The good people over at Operation Military Pride are helping facilitate the delivery of these letters.

This family recently lost a son and shouldn’t have to deal with people like Fred Phelps and the people responsible for the egging of their home and irreverent phone calls. If you feel the same way I do, please email her and write this family a letter of support and love. Let them know that we appreciate their son’s service and mourn their loss. Let’s show them what America is really made of. This isn’t about whether or not you support the war. This is about common decency for a family that has suffered the ultimate sacrifice…having to bury a child. Thank you in advance. When this is over, I want the post office to have to hire new postmen just to handle the volume.

Let's get it done!

I've seen the outpouring of support from all of you in the past with my Letter Project(s), now is the time to do it again!

Support the troops, support the family of this fallen hero!!

I salute you Sgt Jones...

Undoubtedly you were an 'Army of One'

Oh and for the back woods, redneck, hill jack pieces of shit in Kokomo, Indiana who egged this brave young mans home I'd like to say it will be a while before I am able to be proud of my Hoosier upbrining. You should not only be ashamed of yourselves you should be punished. Karma is a Mother Fucker and has a way of biting you in the ass!

Like that raghead in Chapel Hill, NC these people will do and get away with what ever our society will tolerate. By not acting against them it only emboldens them to do more. It's unacceptable, and every Representative and Sentator in the United States should get that message. The people should rise up and force prosecution of the perpetrators and the agitators like Fred Phelps, who I personally think should be hung from the nearest tree.

The Indianapolis Star reported that over 1000 mourners attended Sgt.Jones' funeral.Approximately 300 of that figure were veterans, the others were Kokomo residents. They also reported that several hundred residents lined the streets in route to the cemetery and many were holding thank you signs. They also held home-made signs expressing their love for Sgt.Jones.
The star also stated that the veterans formed a human shield to prevent the loved ones from seeing any would be protesters. This turned out to be unnecessary as no protesters showed.
Rest easy SlagleRock these folks have shown why you should be proud of your Hoosier heritage.
I salute you Sgt.Rickey Jones.I feel much safer knowing that you are patroling the streets of Heaven.I would also like to salute the honorable veterans that were willing to risk an altercation in order to protect the warriors'loved ones.

Isn't there someone in that part of the country willing to give the phony reverend a taste of what it feels like to have a family member or maybe an entire family killed? Somewhere there is someone, time to show up.
