"What they need to do is to get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this shit"- George W. Bush

I find it more than a little charming when the diplomatic mask drops away and a candid remark slips through. In this case W was reminding Tony Blair that the real problem in the Middle East is not Israeli "aggression" but Syrian and Iranian support for the terrorists. The two biggest destabilizing forces in the region and definitely in Iraq are those two regimes and an accounting is in progress.

Israel is currently dismantling their shared creation, Hezbollah in southern Lebanon and I would assume they are trying to scarf up some of the Iranian Spec Ops types who are advising them and helping them with all that Iranian missile gear they are using. The sad thing about this bout of violence is that it does open an amazing opportunity. Iran and Syria have been supporting terrorists worldwide for many years and have caused both us and Israel no end of grief. The crown jewel of their plan to de-Jooo the Middle East had been Hezbollah, well, smoking craters are not all that effective and I really don't see either one of them rolling tanks toward Tel Aviv, so what next?

G.W. hit the nail on the head. "What they need to do is to get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this shit"- George W. Bush

90% of what goes on in the Middle East is just as the Pres called it S-H-I-T. Fighting over land and whose beliefs are right. If these people believed in a higher power, a god of any kind then they would find middle ground. Surely that is what any benevolant deity would want of his (her, its etc.) people.

Most of the world likes to turn their nose up at the United States, but honestly we are one of the few nations that got it right. I work with Jews, Muslims, Mormons, Christians and Catholics. I have worked with people of all colors and creeds. The rest of the world should look to the melting pot that is the United States for inspiration.

In freedom there is peace.

It'll be a long time before these other countries resemble the melting pot that is the U.S.

Religious zealotry seems to be the driving force in the Middle East and although there is some of that in the U.S. (see Robertson, Pat), it is minor.
