Video Shows 9/11 Hijackers' Security Check
According to AOL News, some of the hijackers who crashed a jetliner into the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001, twice set off alarms as they passed through metal detectors that morning at Washington Dulles International Airport, but security screeners did not appear to question them about utility knives investigators believe they were carrying as part of the takeover plot, according to newly disclosed surveillance video.
On the video, hijacker Khalid al-Mihdhar, is seen passing through a security checkpoint at Dulles International Airport on Sept. 11, 2001, just hours before American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon.
I am sure as time goes on we will learn even more disturbing facts about how easy these hijackers got onto our planes.
All Americans who travel need to be prepared. If a plane is hijacked by terrorists it is pretty safe to assume they are not planning on a safe landing. Just as they did on flight 93 you have to struggle for control of the aircraft. It is better to take your final flight as did Todd Beamer and his compatriots and save countless lives than it is to sit and do nothing.
It is sad to think that had security at Dulles and Logan been just a little bit better the tragedy of 9/11 may have never happened.

Yet in the interest of being politically correct airport security doesn't want to offend those that appear to be "Middle Eastern" or look like a terrorist. Instead they shake down the weaker looking amongst the passengers, preferring to intimidate terrorism by showing how thorough they can be by stripping off shoes, hassle those with infirmities and prosthetics, confiscate personal property and still let the perpetrators pass. We tend to hire foreigners for the duty of screening or those who are so moldable they can't think for themselves, who are then allowed too much freedom to interpret what they are doing as the "regulations". To hell with politically correctness, if it looks like a criminal, behaves like a criminal it probably is a criminal, profiling, hell yes. Thanks to the Muslim community they'll earned the reputation they so justly deserve. If they don't like it they can walk or better yet ride a friggin' camel.
Posted by: Jack at July 22, 2004 09:25 AMIt must be remembered that prior 9/11, a leatherman tool or box cutter would have been consided "safe", and we had no reason to recheck a passenger because he was an Arab.
Hindsight proved that attitude wrong, but we need to gear our security to what we know NOW, and give any suspicious person the scrutiny they deserve.
