Having lived in Alaska for 19 years and traveling to and from there to the continental US through Canada. Many times I've been hassled by their government more than any other government of any country I've ever been in. Simply because I was an American, shake downs at the border, confiscation of cigarettes from my person, total vehicle searches and the like. The only places I've felt any kinship to were in the Yukon and Northwest Territories. The assholes seem to be concentrated on the border and in the large cities, which are decidely anti-american. The farther you get away from government centers the people are more like us, sounds familiar doesn't it. The people in the big cities are far more left, liberal and dependent on government to control the very essence of their lives. Let them have Al-Jazeera and the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission and soon they'll be facing Mecca (Quebec) for their daily indoctrination of drivel. I'm just happy I no longer have to travel there.
