Making Their Parents Proud

protestors.jpg

Sgt. 1st Class Jeff Due, right, a U.S. Army recruiter, is surrounded by protesters at Seattle Central Community College, Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, in Seattle. After about a 10-minute standoff during which protesters tore up U.S Army literature, the protesters were successful in getting Due and another recruiter to leave their table under escort by campus security officers. Several hundred students walked out of classes at several Seattle colleges and universities to protest the inauguration of President Bush

Wow are these your children? I hope the parents of these kids are very proud to see their kids acting like this. These douchebags are protesting one of the very people who fights to secure their right to a college education.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. You don't have to agree with the war in Iraq, or the current administration, but you have an obligation to support the troops. There is no room for argument here. If you enjoy your freedoms you owe that to the men and woman in uniform.

Do you think life in the US is so grand because our nation is enclosed in some kind of forcefield? Do you think that with the exception of domestic terrorism and the events of 9/11 this country has remained untouched by foreign invaders "just because"? Absolutely not, this nation is what it is because of all the brave men and woman in uniform who fight, both at home and abroad to protect our freedoms.

Any of the kids involved in this protest should be expelled from school. That recruiter would not have been there without the permission of the school. Protest if you must, but they had no right to tear up "U.S Army literature."

Their smiles disgust me. When did we become a nation so small minded that it pleases us to place one of America's finest in a position like this.

I invite all of these "protestors" to show how much they really believe in the filth they spew. Enlist, do your part to make sure things are done the way you think they should be done.

They must have felt real tough shouting down the soldier...being that there are around 20-30 of them and only ONE of him. How about evening the odds and trying that shit when 30 of your ignorant screaming friends aren't around?!?

SFC Due, I salute you and all who serve!

These kids are nothing more than DOUCHEBAGS, products of the media.

The politics of this state being what they are, state officials will do nothing to punish the actions of the hecklers. They did destroy U.S. Government Property and as such they should be charged and prosecuted by the federal authorities. This is just some more of the scum floating around King County.

Right ON Rob.

As Jack noted, these "brave protesters" committed a federal crime and should be prosecuted for it.

You might want to check out Words on a Page and weigh in on Wanda's belief that Recruiters are making "poor innocent children" pay the price of freedom in blood, while they are just promoting the status quo.

Why delftsman3, I had no idea you were singing my praises all over the blogosphere. Remind me to thank you for the publicity. You know what they say, there is no bad publicty only publicty and well publicty.
Actually I don't recall saying that recruiters were making poor innocent children do anything. I did say that they often mislead young people and rarely bring the fine print to their notice.
Lets get serious here. Is there a recruiter out there who's seen actual combat? If there is I am sure he would be a pretty bad recruiter. Anyone who's ever seen actual combat would never lie or deceive anyone, especially someone as young as a high school student. Which is where most recruiters do their recruiting.
What I'm really concerned about is what happens when the recruiters can no longer lure the unsuspecting into the fold? Where will they find the troops to keep up a steady supply of bodies to continue to send into Iraq to replace those that are dying daily? THAT is what concerns me. If you have children between the ages of 17 and 25 you should be concerned too.
As far as the incident above, well he was on their campus. He had to know or at least suspect the reception he'd receive. Maybe this will qualify him for combat pay. --- Ignorant Smart Ass Comment

Editors Note: I allow the ignorant to comment here like anyone else. I feel that everyone should have the freedom of speech, however, bashing the troops WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

Consider yourself warned Wanda, our troops are the hand that protects our freedoms and they will not be demeaned by you or anyone else on this site.
