How Conservative Are You?!?

H/T and thanks to Delftsman @ Emigre With A Digital Clue Bat

Your Political Profile:
Overall: 65% Conservative, 35% Liberal
Social Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal
Personal Responsibility: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal
Fiscal Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal
Ethics: 75% Conservative, 25% Liberal
Defense and Crime: 100% Conservative, 0% Liberal

I'd say this particular survey is pretty accurate. I tend to be about 50/50 on many issues, but when it comes to defense/crime and ethics most of my views tend to lean pretty hard to the conservative. So, how do you stack up?

An Interesting Look At Casualties

Both were unpopular in the media, both are likely misunderstood by those who don't make the decisions and don't do the dirty work. One thing that sets them apart is that this war has obviously been far more successful!

In war there is no substitute for victory. --Douglas Macarthur

"Good morning. Last night in Iraq, United States military forces killed the terrorist al Zarqawi. At 6:15 p.m. Baghdad time, special operation forces, acting on tips and intelligence from Iraqis, confirmed Zarqawi's location, and delivered justice to the most wanted terrorist in Iraq." - President George Bush

Victory was achieved today! While the death of one of the most vile diabolical terrorist 'leaders' alive around is only a small victory in the war on terror it is a victory nonetheless.

According to Comcast News and CNN.com:

Al-Zarqawi dead, but fight continues

Betrayed leader of al Qaeda in Iraq dies in 'safe house' rubble

Thursday, June 8, 2006; Posted: 10:42 p.m. EDT (02:42 GMT)

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- U.S. forces bombed a safe house and killed al Qaeda's leader in Iraq, but several officials warned Thursday that terrorists and insurgents would not be deterred by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's death.

Al-Zarqawi, a Jordanian-born Sunni militant with a $25 million U.S. bounty on his head, was believed to have the blood of thousands on his hands as leader of the group behind numerous beheadings, assassinations and bombings.

Acting on a maze of intelligence and tips, troops targeted the house and dropped two 500-pound bombs from an F-16 jet on Wednesday evening.

Samir al-Sumaidie, Iraq's new Ambassador to the United States, compared al-Zarqawi's life with a plague: "He wreaked havoc and he went. Good riddance."

"He headed a network of thugs and brutal killers," al-Sumaidie told CNN. Asked whether the death will end the insurgency, al-Sumaidie said, "It's not going to be overnight, but I do believe this will degrade their ability to do damage."

In Washington, President Bush congratulated U.S. troops for a "remarkable achievement."

"Zarqawi is dead, but the difficult and necessary mission in Iraq continues," he said. "We can expect the terrorists and insurgents to carry on without him."

A day after al-Zarqawi's death, at least 37 Iraqis died in Baghdad bombings Thursday, even as the Iraqi parliament ended a stalemate by finally naming key security ministers.

Nevertheless, Bush said the killing is "a severe blow to al Qaeda, and it is a significant victory in the war on terror."

The FBI said there is no evidence that a retaliatory strike is in the works as a result of al-Zarqawi's death, but the agency advised its agents to review ongoing probes and intelligence in the hopes of detecting any possible revenge.

FBI spokesman Richard Kolko said the agency had matched the dead man's fingerprints with al-Zarqawi's prints on file and also would do a DNA analysis. Al Zarqawi's death was confirmed on Islamic Web sites.

Tips lead to airstrike

Tips and intelligence, authorities said, helped pinpoint al-Zarqawi's whereabouts.

Some of that information may have come from a senior al Qaeda in Iraq figure arrested in Jordan on May 22; more came from Iraqi civilians in and around Baquba; and Special Forces troops tracking al-Zarqawi's spiritual adviser developed still more, with help in at least one instance from those inside al Qaeda in Iraq, authorities said.

Special Forces developed information that the spiritual adviser, Sheik Abd-al-Rahman, would be attending the Wednesday meeting and likely would be with al-Zarqawi, military sources told CNN. Troops were on the ground nearby watching for al-Zarqawi.

Al-Rahman "was brought to our attention by somebody from within the network of Zarqawi's," U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Bill Caldwell said.

Gen. George Casey, the U.S. commander in Iraq, said the operation had been under way for a couple of weeks, leading to the safe house in a wooded area near Baquba.

Naser Joudeh, spokesman for the government of Jordan -- al-Zarqawi's birthplace -- said Jordanian security forces also played a role in locating al-Zarqawi.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari a videotape issued by al-Zarqawi that surfaced on the Web in April provided authorities with clues regarding his whereabouts.

It was unclear who, if anyone, would receive the reward money.

Air Force Lt. Gen. Gary North said two F-16s already in the air over Iraq were diverted to the target.

One jet acted as a targeting guide while the other first dropped a laser-guided bomb to ensure the house was hit, and then followed with a satellite-guided bomb to ensure it was destroyed, North said.

Casey said al-Zarqawi was dead when Iraqi security forces arrived on the scene minutes after the airstrike.

Among the five other people who died in the attack were al-Rahman, along with a woman and a child who had not yet been identified.

In the hours following the airstrike, forces carried out 17 simultaneous raids in Baghdad and its outskirts, which Caldwell said yielded a "treasure trove" of information.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and Casey announced al-Zarqawi's death to applause in Baghdad.

"Iraqis can rejoice," said Caldwell, who showed reporters photos of al-Zarqawi's body after the raid. "They have earned it with their blood, their sweat and their tears."

'Special place in hell'

In statements posted on two Islamic Web sites, al Qaeda in Iraq confirmed al-Zarqawi's death and urged its followers to continue the insurgent fight. "People of Islam, God will not let our enemies celebrate and spread corruption in the ground," one statement said.

British Prime Minister Tony Blair, a staunch Bush ally, said, "A blow for al Qaeda in Iraq is a blow for al Qaeda everywhere."

U.S. Sen. Joe Biden, a Delaware Democrat, was more direct. "There's a special place in hell reserved for him," he said of al-Zarqawi.

Caldwell said it was likely al-Zarqawi had planned for his death or capture and identified a replacement, possibly naming Egyptian-born Abu al-Masri as a successor. It was also likely that al Qaeda in Iraq would reassert itself to prove it was "still a viable insurgent organization," Caldwell said.

"Every time a Zarqawi appears we will kill him," al-Maliki said. "We will continue confronting whoever follows his path."

The ranking Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan, told reporters, "We have to expect that there will be efforts made to attack us."

"The major problem Iraq has is not an insurgency -- which for the most part is not an al Qaeda creation -- but a sectarian feud and fighting," he said.

Allegiance to bin Laden
Al-Zarqawi, 39, gained notoriety in February 2003, when then-Secretary of State Colin Powell appeared before the U.N. Security Council to make his case supporting the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

Al-Zarqawi was the leader of one of the nation's many insurgent factions. In October 2004, al-Zarqawi pledged his allegiance to al Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden, and renamed his group al Qaeda in Iraq.

Al Qaeda in Iraq was blamed for brazen terrorist attacks, including a 2003 suicide bombing of U.N. headquarters in Baghdad that killed the U.N. envoy to Iraq and 21 others, and the November bombing of three hotels in Amman, Jordan, in which 60 people died.

Al-Zarqawi is believed to have been involved in the abductions and beheadings of several Western hostages. In addition, the United States believes al-Zarqawi had appealed to al Qaeda for help in starting a civil war in Iraq and encouraged sectarian violence.

Al Zarqawi clearly was a misguided human being. This is just another example of the excrement of the Earth trying to justify its vile cause through religion. Nowhere in the Islamic faith (or any faith for that matter) would it be justifiable to do the things Zarqawi and his partners in terror have done.

Well, I titled this post with a quote from a great man; I will end it with an equally appropriate quote from that same great man...

Does This Man Ever Give Up...

Fred "Phagboy" Phelps (H/T to Emporer Misha), a.k.a, low life, son of a bitch (probably quite literally his mother/sister/aunt), asshole, bastard, homosexual (still in the closet, clearly he has a gay fettish), maggot, piece of shit, son of Satan, confused, worthless...

This list goes on and on, and if one used all of the appropriate words to describe this filth I am not sure there would be enough bandwidth to support the text.

Anyway, as always this piece of shit and his "church" are constantly badgering our troops. It really is confusing. They are clearly an anti-gay organization that simply wasn't getting enough attention. Since saying things like Fag, Queer and Gay in the public eye didn't draw them enough attention in some sick twisted way they drew the American Troops into the middle of it all. For quite some time he and his merry band of inbreeds have been bouncing around the country protesting the funerals of America's fallen in the war on terror.

Warning, in the quoted text below you will find language that is offensive to some, and yet another reason there is a parental advisory on my site.

Thanks to Emperor Darth Misha I:

Maybe THIS is a Language that Phred Phagboy Phelps Will Understand

It remains, for some reason, illegal to end the terrorist activities of Phred Phelps and his inbred Band of Brother Fuckers by simply sending a high-velocity load of lead through their Neanderthal skulls. The only rational reason we can think of is that the authorities are afraid that, were they to make it legal, innocents would get injured in the stampede to be among the lucky ones to decorate a sidewalk in the lovely color “Hint of Brain.”

Well, the family of one of our Marines fallen in the line of duty have decided that perhaps bankruptcy might teach Phred and his Phucked up Phucknozzles a thing or two about common decency, so they’ve filed suit for unspecified damages over the disgraceful spectacle that the libertine lizard and his Hell spawn turned their loved one’s funeral into.

Check the link, then visit the family’s website and help them out in any way you can. It is our Imperial hope that other families will join them in the suit and create a torrent of claims that will utterly drown those disgusting, seeping syphilitic sores on the body of humanity. We’re not a lawyer, it’s one of the things NOT on the list of professions that His Majesty has fiddled around with, but the words “emotional distress” ring a bell with us.

The Phelps Phamily had this to say:

Shirley Phelps-Roper, a spokeswoman for the small congregation, said it is the first time Westboro has been sued by a soldier’s family. “We were exercising our First Amendment rights,” she said.

And who the fuck do you think BOUGHT those First Amendment rights with their blood, you fat, fucking, dribbling cunt?

Just die already. Stick a gun in your pie hole and munch on a bullet, you flapping fuckworm.

Die.

Die, motherfucker (or would PhatherPhucker fit better?), DIE.

OK, all colorful verbiage aside, follow the link, read up on the lawsuit, and see what you can do to support the family of this fallen HERO!!

That's right you bunch of misguided inbred white trash, he is a HERO, a word you clearly cannot comprehend.

Thank you Misha @ the Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler for putting it oh so eloquently.

It is tragic that Phelps and his Klan of hate mongers do what they do in an attempt to demoralize the troops and the families of the fallen, but it is even more tragic that they do it under the guise of religious belief.

I only hope that one day when Phelp’s corpse is rotting in the bowels of hell there is some consciousness left that will torment and torture his soul (or what is left of it) for the rest of eternity!

For all of the fallen that have had their remembrance interrupted but Phelps and his son/brothers and daughter/sisters I say I am sorry. I am sorry that our society allows people like this to be here. If they hate everything about us and our nation they should simply move away... …Maybe to a paradise like Cuba, Iran or even Syria. Deportation for not being an American shouldn't be illegal simply because the person was born here. Being an American is a privilege and should be treated as such.

One last thing, if you have experienced trauma at the behest of the Phelps Klan, maybe you should get a lawyer, maybe there is a legitimate lawsuit in hidden among your pain and suffering. Sue the piss out of them, follow suit. Bankrupt these low life pieces of shit so they can't afford to carry on these inhuman acts.

More of my Favorite toys

Ok, so the other day I posted on my "Monster". My Car-15, AR-15, M4 look-a-like, whatever you'd like to call it. Now I will post a couple of my other babies.

Seeing how today is the dreaded 6-6-06 I thought I'd show off a few more of my asshole repellent devices. Evil day or no, I am always prepared ;)

DSC01263Apost1.JPG

The first pistol I ever bought was a Beretta Model 96 Brigadier

DSC01263post.JPG

I know, I know, but SlagleRock this thing is huge and heavy and a Beretta...

I bought this when I was just starting out in Combat Arms. I thought about buying a standard 92FS so I could work on the same gun at home that I was taught by the Air Force. Then I got a bright idea... Why not buy a 96. It is the same mechanical function and has the same mechanical features. It also allows me the flexibility of dropping in a 9mm barrel for a standard 92 and poof multiple calibers! Two guns for the price of one! I added a laser site a few years ago. It is a novelty. Not great for the average shooter or for range time, but it would certainly cause a burglar to fill his pants if he came in my place late at night!

Turns out it was a great idea. Learning to shoot on a heavy larger caliber pistol only made me a better shot. I qualify Expert every single time I shoot the Air Force Qualification Course. Hell, I can keep a group at 25m that you can cover with a soda can.

Now, what if you wanted to carry this weapon, yeah right, ever try concealing a Howitzer?

DSC01265a.JPG

My loving fiancée found a cure for that. On our first anniversary she bought me a Heckler and Koch USP .40 Compact. The H&K .40 is a great gun. Ask around the firearms community and people have their favorites, Glock, Sig, H&K, but no matter which is your favorite you have to agree that H&K kicks ass!

DSC01265post2.JPG

I love this gun. It shoots straight as an arrow, especially considering it only has a 3.5" barrel. It is a great concealment pistol. It is my off-duty carry gun. I got my concealed pistol license a while ago and I tote it with me when I can, or when I think it may be a good idea. I also added a set of Trijicon Tritium Night Sights as well, you never know when the Ninja's will attack in the dark.

Well, I don't have too much more to say about these, I just thought I'd share. I am trying to work my way back into the habit of posting regularly.

What do you think?

The Franken-SlagleRock Monster

OK, Ok, so I know, I have been guilty of spotty posting over the past few months. Ever since my ex-wife and I separated/divorced last year I have been too busy to post like I used to. I've recently been made the NonCommissioned Officer in Charge of my section, and I have a wonderful Fiancee who keeps me very busy! I have tried at various times to get back in the groove, and have even promised to post more regularly once again only to fall flat. So, I have decided, no more promises on great posts daily. I will simply post when something strikes that is worth posting.

That said...

I'd like to introduce you to my monster....

DSC01252 (3).JPG

Just a note, this IS NOT my equivalant to the crazy Jihadist pictures you see on the internet where an AK-47 is photographed in front of the Quran (Koran). I just wanted something other than the white wall in the background and I thought this small painting from my Grandfather would suffice.

Before I get into the breakdown of this beast I'll give you a little background information. For those of you who have been following my site since it's inception you probably already know that I am a firearms expert in the Air Force, for those of you new to the site read this...

Who is SlagleRock?

OK, now that the introductions are out of the way you all should understand my interest in firearms. I think I have the coolest job in the world. I get to teach our service men and women the tools necessary to properly employ their weapons systems and defend themselves as well as their brothers/sisters in arms.

Now, back to the Franken-SlagleRock Monster...

I'll just start up front (the muzzle) and work my way back. My new rifle features an A2 style compensator (flash suppressor, flash hider, birdcage etc.)

Keep working rearward and you'll see a 16" Stainless Steel National Match Grade Heavy Barrel (HBAR) from Olympic Arms. Nothing beats the added weight for stability when firing precision shots even from a carbine barrel that is only 16”. I hold groups with this gun at 100m that are easily concealed with a single dime. My 300m group can consistently be covered with a quarter. Keep in mind I don't have any kind of scope or other optic for this little devil. I am shooting these groups with an A.R.M.S. #40 standard Back Up Iron Sight (BUIS). This is a shooter!

Next on my list of goodies is a Knight Armament M4 Rail Adapter System (RAS) for any standard 14" or 16" barrel with a carbine gas system. Remember, I have an HBAR on my gun, the Knight RAS took a little persuasion to make fit, but the precision milling I pulled off makes it a snug fit! This four sided rail adapter allows quick attach/detach of any accessory equipped with the "picatinny" (M1913 for you purists) or "weaver type" mount.

gator.jpgmegagator grip.jpg

Further rearward you come to the body of the carbine so to speak, the receivers. My lower receiver is the Mega Gator from the Mega Machine Shop company in Tumwater, WA. Gator refers to a checkering type feature that Mega adds to the front of the magazine well. These lowers are beautiful. When I went to purchase my receivers I had almost endless options. I looked at Colt, Bushmaster, Rock River, Olympic Arms... I got to hold and inspect nearly, if not every manufacturer of AR-15 receivers and believe it or not the best looking receivers in the lot were from Mega. There were no tool marks, no imperfections. It was just plain clean. In fact, the Mega was better looking than the original, the one and only COLT! My upper receiver is a “flat top” M4 style upper from Mega as well. Ok, enough about my receiver choice.

Mega Lower.bmp

Continue rearward and you will find a very comfortable collapsible stock. My carbine features a Crane SOPMOD stock. This thing is like an Egyptian linen pillow with a 500 thread count. In short it is the most comfortable stock I have ever rested my cheek on. If you can't get comfortable and find a solid cheek (or stock) weld with this stock, it just isn't going to happen for you! The SOPMOD stock also has two internal storage compartments for batteries for your accessories.

Crane Sopmod Stock.jpgDSC01259.JPG

RockRiver.gif

The guts of this gun are from Rock River. Its complete lower receiver parts group is from Rock River. The bolt carrier group however, is from Olympic Arms.

Oly.gif

Now, let’s talk additional accessories. I have a Surefire M900A Vertical Foregrip Tactical Flashlight seen in the main pics of my carbine. The M900A is the pinnacle of tactical lighting for CQB (Close Quarter Battle) operations.

Now, I know what you are thinking, but SlagleRock your carbine has a Heavy Barrel (HBAR) and you can't use it for military purposes anyway, so why have a foregrip light?!? Because it Kick's ASS, that's why. Have you ever heard the expression, perfect practice makes perfect? If I can tote an HBAR carbine that is 2" longer than my government issue Colt M4 successfully, it can only make it easier to use my govt. issued weapon when the time comes. Practice people, practice.

I also have a set of "Universal Bipods". This is where I went cheap, only temporarily. These are nice for prone firing and zeroing the sites in. They are quick release and easily attach/detach from the Knight Rail Adapter System.

Other little touches in this gun...

I have the Heavy Duty "Green" extractor spring from Specialized Armament part #SA05006. This is the "mother" of all extractor springs. This heavy duty extractor spring is infinitely more powerful than a factory spring ensuring proper extraction of spent cases and greatly diminishing the possibility of a failure to extract.

SA.gif

I also have the "Red" heavy duty magazine spring from Specialized Armament part #SA09002. These heavy duty springs are specially designed so that they won’t lose tension even if the magazines remain loaded for long periods of time. They are also designed specifically to hold only 28 rounds in any standard 30rd magazine bodies such as those from Okay industries. These things feed great!

One other feature, and a personal favorite is the Magpul MIAD Modular Full Grip Kit fully adjustable grip (seen second picture down in the link). It features an adjustable forestrap and backstap as well as a built in oversized trigger guard. It also has a small compartment cleverly located in the grip that stores "emergency" ammunition.

It is kind of funny really. I have been in the Combat Arms career field for nearly 7 years. I have built/rebuilt literally thousands of M16's and it's variations (A1, A2, M4, M4A1 etc.) for the government over the years. I have even built around 30-40 civilian AR's over the years for friends, but this is the first time I have built one for myself. This one is mine so it makes it kind of special.

Below are some additional pictures of my baby...

This One.JPG

Now This One.JPG

So, what would it cost you to build a beast like SlagleRock's?

- The upper and lower receivers will run you anywhere from $250-$500 for both
- The Rail Adapter System from Knight is $300-$325
- The Lower Parts Kits will run $75 and up
- The Crane SOPMOD stock kit is $199
- The SureFire M900A Foregrip Light is $616
- The HBAR 16" Ultramatch Carbine Barrel runs $229
- A.R.M.S. #40 standard Back Up Iron Sight (BUIS) $95.95
- Magpul MIAD Modular Full Grip Kit $44.95

So, no labor involved and a few minor parts ommitted this gun would run $1850-$2050 to complete.

So you are thinking how does an E-6 in the Air Force afford a $2000 AR?? Well, I built it myself. I have the know how, experience, tools and equipment to safely build my own. As for the cost of parts. Most of the parts and accessories I have in my Carbine were either given to me, traded for or earned through gunsmithing labor. I did however spend about $150 on my receivers and lower parts kit. I have a friend who is a licensed gun dealer so I got a huge discount on the few items I had to purchase.

You'll notice, I am missing one important accessory for any good Tactical Carbine... A solid optic sight system. I am a big fan of both Aimpoint and EOTech, but they are pricey. The one I want will run right around $400 (that's more green than I have invested in the entire rifle).

Anyone want to help me finish this beauty???

If enough donations come in to help this old Sarge complete his baby, I will most definitely post the pictures of the optic mounted on the Carbine.

Well, that is my Franken-SlagleRock Monster. I just thought I'd share. Any thoughts? Comments? Questions??

Thanks for reading and check back from time to time and see what else I am up to or what else has just plain pissed me off!
